We were blessed to have Ahmya serve as one of the first Computer Science interns for the Department of Public Instruction, and along with approximately 15 of her colleagues, she spearheaded the first annual student-led, student-facilitated, student-moderated summit at NC State University!
It was a true honor to work alongside Ahmya as she and her co-leads disseminated information, created marketing campaigns, designed educational STEM experiences, curated the programming, and even delivered the opening and closing addresses! "Ahmya proved in her interview her aptitude for computer science, along with strong leadership abilities, a penchant for being a self-starter, and an intense passion for diversifying the field of STEM. All these qualities, along with her kind and sunny disposition, made me certain she’d be a good fit for our team.
Throughout her time as an intern, Ahmya was an incredible asset to our team. She was always eager to help and regularly acted as a leader, both to the teams she mentored and to the other interns. She especially led the intern group on many assignments involving design. Ahmya has a great eye for aesthetics and extensive experience with graphic design. She used these skills to create graphics for our social media, website, and other online materials. When it came time to host our final event in-person, I was able to rely on Ahmya for many of our décor plans. She made graphics for multiple banners, created the design for our t-shirts, and coordinated all other décor to pull the event together.
Upon meeting Ahmya, she already had an impressive resume, but I’m glad that Ready, Set, App! was able to be added to that list.
